About This Treatment
Reduce the appearance of unwanted spider and reticular veins for clearer, more even-looking legs.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment designed to reduce the appearance of small spider veins (thread veins) and slightly larger reticular veins on the legs.
At Cosmetic Clinic, we use Fibrovein (sodium tetradecyl sulfate), a prescription-only sclerosant, in concentrations of 0.2% or 0.5%, selected according to the type and size of vein being treated.
The solution is carefully injected directly into the targeted vein, causing the vein walls to react and close. Over time, the treated vein is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, reducing its visibility.
The treatment is particularly suitable for clients who are concerned about visible red, blue or purple veins on their legs and thighs and would like to improve their appearance without surgery.

Who Is Suitable?
Sclerotherapy may be suitable for adults who:
-
Have small, superficial spider or reticular veins on their legs.
-
Are in generally good health.
-
Have realistic expectations about treatment outcomes.
-
Can walk normally after treatment and follow the recommended aftercare.
-
Have no significant underlying vascular condition that would make treatment unsuitable.
Who May Not Be Suitable?
Sclerotherapy may not be appropriate for clients who:
-
Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
-
Have a current or previous blood clot, such as DVT, requiring further vascular assessment.
-
Have significant arterial or venous circulation problems.

Have an active infection or inflammation affecting the treatment area.

Have a known allergy to Fibrovein or its ingredients.
-
Have certain medical conditions or medications that increase the risk of complications.

Treatment & Results
Treatment time: Approximately 30 minutes.
Recommended sessions: Typically 2–3 sessions, depending on the number and size of veins.
Treatment intervals: Usually 4–6 weeks apart.
Downtime: Generally minimal, although temporary redness, bruising, tenderness, itching or pigmentation changes can occur.
Results: Treated veins gradually fade over several weeks, sometimes taking a few months. More than one session may be needed, and new veins can develop over time.
Compression stockings may be recommended following treatment to support recovery.
Important Information
A consultation and medical assessment are required before treatment to ensure sclerotherapy is appropriate for you.
As Fibrovein is a prescription-only medicine, treatment is subject to prescribing approval and clinical suitability.
Although sclerotherapy can significantly improve the appearance of superficial veins, complete clearance cannot be guaranteed. Less common but important risks include skin staining, ulceration, allergic reactions and blood clots, which will be discussed during your consultation.
